Defect or Bug Triage Meeting

Defect or Bug Triage Meeting is very important in the Test Execution phase. The meeting can be hosted by a Test Lead/Manager, Development Manager or Business Analyst. The goal is to make sure valid defects having correct severity & priority are going into the Defect Life Cycle and there is no impediment to the defect life cycle. Any invalid defects are quickly recognised in the meeting so that there is no additional time spent on such issues.

The Defect Triage meeting can happen daily or weekly as per the project requirements or current status of the Project. It plays a vital role in keeping track of the Defects Count, status, severity and their Fix Rate. Any gap can easily be identified and then an appropriate action can be taken to bridge that gap.

For Example,

• If high severity defects are not getting fixed by the Development team then the Test Manager or Business Analyst or any other stakeholder can escalate in the meeting to target their fixes.


• Another example could be if there are too many defects in one feature then an action plan can be prepared to target such feature pro-actively.


• Testing team has too many defects and are not getting re-tested to clear out the testing team bucket.
