Difference Between a Tester and Test Analyst

I’ve seen many people using a generic term Tester(s) to refer to the testing team members, which is quite normal. But on the other side of it, many testing team members often feel offended by the term Tester, especially those who are Test Analyst (TA). To the outside world, there is no difference but within the Testing team, it does make a difference.

Tester is anyone who is executing test cases or doing some type of testing by executing the software.

Test Analyst is a person who is doing analysis of the software requirements, doing estimations, preparing and executing test cases.

So, to differentiate at a high level Test Analyst job is a specialised skill-set and requires some experience while a Tester can be anyone executing piece of software to find bugs.
